Soul's Remnant Gems and Essences

Quick answer

Gems and essences support equipment upgrades, dungeon exchange loops, monster research, and broader progression, but exact tables are patch-sensitive.

Gems and essences are progression materials rather than simple vendor trash. The community wiki and Steam page support four broad item roles: equipment improvement, monster research, dungeon rewards, and player economy.

This page keeps those systems separate so future item pages can add exact drop tables only when a source gives them clearly.

Item Roles

Item groupRoleSource-backed caution
GemsImprove equipment through upgrade slotsExact gem effects should be checked per gem page and current patch.
Monster essencesAssociated with monsters and research-style progressionThe older community wiki notes monsters can drop associated essence; current per-monster rates need individual verification.
Nature essencesWiki snippets describe monsters dropping one specific type of Nature EssenceTreat type lists and rates as patch-sensitive.
Dungeon essencesUsed in dungeon reward and exchange loopsDungeon-specific essence names should be tied to individual dungeon pages.
Soul CrystalsBasic currency from nearly every monster in older wiki documentationEconomy details can change, so do not hardcode conversion routes unless current.

Database Fields To Track

For each gem or essence page, use:

  • item name;
  • item group;
  • primary use;
  • source or drop route;
  • linked monster, dungeon, or equipment system;
  • whether the drop rate is confirmed;
  • last verification date.

Practical Notes

Gems should be documented alongside equipment upgrade slots, not echo lines. Essences should be documented alongside their source, such as a monster, dungeon, or research system.

If a future source provides exact drop rates, put those rates on the individual entity page and keep this overview as the general routing hub.

Verification note: the wiki source is community-maintained and WIP. Drop rates, exchange rates, and upgrade values are patch-sensitive and should be confirmed on individual item pages.
