Soul's Remnant Echoes Guide: Best Lines, Souls & Rerolls
Quick answer
Echoes are extra attributes on equipment and Dungeon Passes. Items can have up to five Echo lines, and different Souls add, reroll, lock or transfer those lines.
Quick Answer: What Are Echoes?
Echoes are bonus attribute lines added on top of an item's normal Stats. Equipment and Dungeon Passes can generate with zero to five Echo lines. The available lines depend on the item type, while the maximum value of a line depends on the item's level.
Do not judge an item by outline color alone. Check the actual Echo effects, line quality, item level and whether the slot can roll the attribute your build needs.
Echo Lines and Quality
| Feature | What it means |
|---|---|
| Line count | An eligible item can have 0–5 Echo lines |
| Echo pool | Hats, weapons, backpacks and other item types use different possible pools |
| Duplicate lines | The same stat cannot appear twice on one item |
| Line quality | Gray → Green → Blue → Gold → Ruby (red) |
| Item level | Sets the potential maximum value of each Echo line |
A Ruby line on low-level equipment can still be weaker than a modest line on much higher-level equipment. Compare the number shown in the tooltip, not only its color.
Which Soul Should You Use?
| Soul | Main effect |
|---|---|
| Energetic Soul | Adds lines until the item has two, then rerolls the first two lines |
| Ambitious Soul | Adds lines until four, then rerolls the first four |
| Transcendent Soul | Adds lines until five, then rerolls all five |
| Primordial Soul | Rerolls one selected Echo line |
| Turbulent Soul | Rerolls the value of one random Echo line |
| Chaotic Soul | Randomly changes a main-stat value, Echo line or Element Type |
| Eternal Soul | Locks one selected Echo line for the next five Soul uses; at most two lines can be locked |
| Transitive Soul | Destroys one item and moves its Echoes to another item |
Using a Soul costs one Soul Crystal. Most monsters can drop Souls, with higher-level monsters having better chances across the Soul pool.
A Safe Reroll Order
- Choose an item whose level and base Stats are worth keeping.
- Add enough lines with the appropriate Energetic, Ambitious or Transcendent Soul.
- Decide which build-relevant lines are worth protecting.
- Use an Eternal Soul before broad rerolls if losing a strong line would be costly.
- Improve individual lines only after the basic Echo set is acceptable.
- Apply Gems after rerolling whenever possible, because a Gem upgrade stays attached to that line position even if a later Soul changes the line.
This order reduces the chance of investing Gems into a line position that you later reroll into an unwanted attribute.
Which Echoes Are Good?
There is no universal best line because each equipment type has its own pool and each build has a different bottleneck. Use this priority:
- Fix resource or cooldown problems that interrupt your main skill loop.
- Improve the damage type and attack pattern you use consistently.
- Add survivability when deaths reduce dungeon or farming uptime.
- Treat utility, gathering and crafting Echoes as separate loadouts when possible.
For a commonly misunderstood damage line, see what Damage Balance does. It raises the lower end of the damage range rather than directly raising the maximum hit.
When Should You Spend Souls?
You do not need to save every Soul until the level cap. A useful early item with two relevant lines can improve leveling speed enough to repay a modest investment. Avoid heavy rerolling when the item is already far below your current level or has weak base Stats.
Before spending rare Souls, ask:
- Will I keep this item for several progression steps?
- Can this equipment slot roll the line I want?
- Am I rerolling before applying Gems?
- Do I have enough Soul Crystals for progression and reroll costs?
FAQ
What is the maximum number of Echoes?
Five Echo lines on an eligible item or Dungeon Pass.
Can every item have Echoes?
No. Some items, including ordinary consumables, do not accept Echoes.
Can two identical Echo stats appear on one item?
No. An item cannot generate two lines that boost the same stat.
Do higher-quality colors always mean a better item?
No. Quality reflects the line's roll relative to its possible range, but item level determines that range. Compare the actual value and build relevance.
