Soul's Remnant Mining Guide: How to Mine & Find Ore
Quick answer
Open the Life Skill tab, accept the Mining unlock objective, use the World Map to find ore resources, then gather on a short route that matches your current level.
How to Start Mining
- Accept I want to learn Mining from the Life Skill quest flow.
- Find Shepherd on the Spawn grounds and speak with him to learn Mining.
- Continue to Mining Practice.
- Gather 15 Stone from the Outskirts to complete the documented practice objective and receive Mining EXP.
- Open the World Map and inspect reachable maps for the next ore resource you need.
The official Wiki currently lists 950 Mining EXP for Mining Practice. Interface labels and quest requirements can change during Early Access, so use the current quest text as the source of truth if it differs from this route.
How to Find Ore Veins
The fastest way to look for ore is the World Map rather than checking every cave manually. Open the map, select a zone, and review its resource list. Search for the ore, shard or crystal you need, then choose a reachable area with a short return route.
When comparing mining locations, check:
- whether your current Mining level can gather the vein;
- travel time from Spawn or your return point;
- enemies or platforming between deposits;
- inventory space for ore and other materials;
- whether the route also advances a quest or crafting goal.
The best route is not always the highest-level map. A compact safe loop can produce more usable material per hour than a dangerous route with long travel time.
What Mining Gives You
Community-maintained item data connects ore veins to ore, shards and crystals. These materials feed into Blacksmithing and other crafting or upgrade decisions.
| Material type | What to do with it |
|---|---|
| Ore | Keep enough for known Blacksmithing and equipment goals |
| Shards | Check current recipes before converting or selling them |
| Crystals | Compare skill-upgrade, crafting and market value |
| Stone or route materials | Keep quest requirements before selling surplus |
For example, the community wiki documents Red Shards from red ore veins and Yellow Crystals from a perfect result on yellow ore veins. Treat exact rewards and minigame thresholds as patch-sensitive until confirmed in the current game.
Mining and Blacksmithing
Mining supplies materials; Blacksmithing turns selected materials into refined ore, equipment and other crafted items. Before grinding a large stockpile, open the current recipe list and identify the exact item you are working toward.
A practical loop is:
- Choose one recipe or upgrade goal.
- Record the materials still missing.
- Find those resources on the World Map.
- Mine until you have the required amount plus a small reserve.
- Craft or upgrade before deciding what is truly surplus.
This prevents you from selling an unfamiliar crystal and then buying it back for a progression requirement.
How to Level Mining Efficiently
- Mine resources your current level can complete consistently.
- Prefer a short repeatable route over a long trip for one difficult deposit.
- Empty inventory and storage before a dedicated mining session.
- Combine mining with nearby quests, monsters or research targets.
- Recheck the map after increasing your Mining level or proficiency.
- Compare material demand before choosing between keeping, processing and selling.
Do not assume every successful interaction gives the same reward. Ore type, performance and current balance can affect the result.
Mining Troubleshooting
I cannot start Mining
Check the Life Skill tab, accept the current Mining quest, and verify that every earlier quest step has been completed. If the interface has changed, follow the objective and NPC name displayed in the live quest log.
I found the map but not the ore
Confirm that you selected the correct map layer and resource entry. Search the map for the exact material name, then check the whole connected area instead of assuming the deposit is beside the entrance.
I need wood, not ore
Wood belongs to the tree or gathering resource loop rather than Mining. Use the World Map to find a map listing trees or the wood resource you need; do not spend time checking ore veins for it.
Should I sell ore and crystals?
Sell confirmed surplus only after checking your current Blacksmithing recipes, skill upgrades and equipment goals. Rare or poorly understood materials are safer in storage until their use is clear.
